It all began with a heart change.

“engage hearts, transform lives, erase boundaries, exceptional support”

The idea and formation of PECO came into existence in 2019, when two friends (Gidion and Joseph), celebrated their birthdays by going to a local village to spend time with those in need. For their birthday celebration, they delivered food to people in the village who were in need. Their interactions with the community in the village unveiled so much to them about the struggle and hunger that widows/elders in impoverished areas are facing—in many areas, there is no one taking care of them, which is what produce desire in them to help the community. They were led to participate in research that demonstrated that 60% of the Tanzanian population are elders, ageing 60 years and above. The population has been shown to live in mostly impoverished conditions, in which they lack access to necessities such as clean water, shelter, food, and health care services. PECO strives to help provide some of the resources and care that they are able. PECO demonstrates a desire to reach the unreached in Tanzania. PECO will continue to conduct field research to be able to serve the population that has the greatest needs. Their desire to help reach the elderly community is what began the push to officially register PECO as an NGO—PAMOJA ELDERS CARE ORGANIZAION under government law with the registration number 00NGO/R/5820.
